College Textbooks: Can They Get Any More Expensive???

According to State Public Interest Research Group (PIRG), students spend approximately $900 a year on college textbooks! You can do the math yourself. $900 x 4 years = $3,600 for books alone during a normal college tenure! Most students are left with no choice but to pay their textbooks off through credit cards.

What sources or websites have you found to help lower your text book bills?

There are lots of places to find used text books on the Internet. Check out sites like www.CampusBookSwap.com , www.amazon.com, and even www.Half.com ,which is run by eBay. When you are done with your books, try re-selling them online instead of back to your bookstore. You will make a few extra bucks on each book so it may be worth your time.

One last textbook tip- try finding a friend who has the same class as you do (preferably during different time slots) and going in 50/50 for your books. If you could reduce your yearly spending from $900 to $450 wouldn’t that be nice?
